Pianist Tahu Matheson made his highly acclaimed New Zealand debut during the 1996 International Festival of the Arts in Wellington, this CD replicates the programme of that recital. Edwin Carr’s Ten Concert Studies were written written specifically for the 20 year-old pianist with his formidable technique and gigantic handspan. Carr’s studies are then pitted against Rachmaninov’s Ten preludes Op.23.
