Cantilena is another welcome selection of chamber music by Eric Biddington. Of Biddington’s music reviewer Allan Francis remarks: “However else you describe Eric Biddington he is a rugged individualist of great charm and enterprise as a composer…. His first journeys took him through the works of Douglas Lilburn and this influence has paid dividends with the later, more complex harmonies he undertook. Such a challenge for musician and composer alike is but one of the quirks that make up Eric Biddington…. His field of operation is contained within amateur societies, schools and small groups who play more for pleasure than profit.”
