- Wanganui Schola Sacra Choir: Pohutukawa Carols
CD
The Pohutukawa tree symbolises the kiwi experience of Christmas, while the carols we inherit from the Northern Hemisphere contain the imagery of deep winter during this period, New Zealand is in the height of summer and the Pohutukawa are in full bloom.
Here is a collection of Christmas carols from a New Zealand perspective that also touches on the sacred nature of the holiday season including works by Douglas Mews, Jenny McLeod, and Vincent James.
