- Willow Macky: Waitangi Anthem; facsimile
The cover of this score shows a design of traditional Maori rafter patterns.
This score was reproduced from copyist Susan Kendrick’s manuscript, which she based on Willow Macky’s original and it was then printed through offset printing.
As well as the piano accompaniment, guitar chords are noted on the score and the text is reproduced in english and Maori (a translation by Napi Waaka). A page of notes by the composer about the composition, recording and publication of the work is also included.
Willow Macky concludes, “Now, like the kotuku, this song Waitangi is plumed for flight, with two strong wings to bear it, in storm or calm, through the airy pathways of Aotearoa.”
