1 December 2008
Experimental film maker and musician Sam Hamilton
will be inhabiting the Film Archive’s Auckland exhibition space with his dynamic audio expansion of the Amazon jungles of Brazil, Colombia, and Peru.
The result of a 4 month sound recording project which
he undertook between 2007 and 2008, the installation ‘Sonar Realidad Interior’, investigates the physical and conceptual relationships between sound and what we perceive to be our environment.
Creeping it’s way up the stairwell and into the exhibition space this sound installation blurs its own boundaries attempting to be and function as an ecological system itself.
Sam Hamilton is an experimental musician and artist from Auckland, New Zealand whose work ranges from explorations of live performative cinema with antique film equipment, to rich textural electronic music, to deconstructive improvisations with acoustic objects. His enthusiasm for a large range of mediums and forms of musical expression have led him to work and collaborate with a diverse range of musicians, artists, scientists, and film makers.
