The Wellington Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Michael Joel, presents a concert with a Russian/Slovak flavour.
Anthony Ritchie's Diary of a Madman: Dedication to Shostakovich was one of the works featured in the "May 2007 NZSO-SOUNZ Readings":/events/show/164 and is a completion, 31 years later, of an idea inspired in the 14 year old Kiwi composer by Shostakovich's death in 1975!
Shostakovich remains on the agenda with a performance of his Piano Concerto No. 2 with Tom McGrath as soloist. Tom is a Teaching Fellow in the Music Department of Otago University in Dunedin.
The concert closes with Symphony No. 8 in G Major by Antonin Dvorak.
