The NZSO’s Made in New Zealand concert has become a keenly anticipated concert event for those who enjoy the music of our country’s composers.
The works this year range from the Symphonic Movement by Richard Fuchs, an immigrant New Zealand composer writing in the first half of the 1900’s, through to Gao Ping’s Piano Concerto in which he will also take the soloist’s role. Whirimako Black will have orchestral accompaniment for her rendition of several jazz standards in te reo: He Raumati (Summertime), Konehunehu (Misty) and others.
A pre-concert forum with the composers, conductor and soloists will take place at 5:15 in the Ilott Theatre.
