The Ensō String Quartet returns from the USA to present cornerstones of the chamber music repertoire, alongside masterpieces that deserve to be better known. Dutilleux’s “vision of the night” and Ginastera’s flamboyant String Quartet No. 2 will sparkle alongside works by Haydn, Beethoven and Ravel. In 2016 we celebrate the 100th birthday of both Dutilleux and Ginastera, and each of these special concerts are rounded out with an exquisite miniature from Auckland-based composer Alex Taylor.
