Figments: a concert by 175 East

This concert of music from the cutting-edge will feature brand new work by award-winning New Zealand composers Louise Webster and Alex Taylor, written specifically for 175 East. The concert will also pay homage to John Cage on the 100th anniversary of his birth, with a performance of his late work Four6, alongside remarkable pieces by Olga Neuwirth and Iannis Xenakis.

175 East, one of New Zealand’s foremost contemporary music ensembles, presents concerts of music from the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Since its inception in 1996, the ensemble has performed over 215 pieces, including numerous world and New Zealand premieres, and over 50 pieces have been specifically written for it.
