Karlheinz Company: Tribute to Pärt

6 August 2010 7:30 PM

A concert of works by international and New Zealand composers who influenced and were influenced by Arvo Pärt. The evening also includes a performance of Pärt’s haunting Fratres.

The Karlheinz Company, based at The University of Auckland School of Music was founded by John Rimmer and gave its first concert in 1978. The ensemble has a programming philosophy of combining more adventurous names within the established twentieth century composers with ‘classics’ and new music from New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region.

This concert is part of the Arvo Pärt Festival: A Search for Unity two-day festival celebrating the works of the twentieth century Estonian composer.
