Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) host their annual Silver Scroll Award event, recognising and celebrating the creative excellence of our songwriters & composers. The event is A highlight on the nation’s music industry calendar, and an evening of unique collaborations and performances.
During the evening three major awards and an induction into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame will be announced. The Awards are: the APRA Silver Scroll, New Zealand’s pre-eminent songwriting award; the SOUNZ Contemporary Award and the APRA Maioha Award recognising (respectively) outstanding compositions in both contemporary ‘Classical’ and in Māori music.
The three finalist works for the 2010 SOUNZ Contemporary Award are: Inner Bellow for solo clarinet and electronic sounds by Chris Cree Brown; Rudiments for chamber ensemble by Chris Gendall; and Violin Concerto No. 1 by Ross Harris.
