The National Youth Brass Band of New Zealand follow their 2010 Summer Course with a concert tour of Otago and Southland.

Band members are selected annually through a rigorous nation wide audition process. Musical director Graham Hickman (previous conductor of the NZ Army Band and current New Zealand Champion Conductor) says: “The level of musical excellence this group of young enthusiastic musicians attain is astounding. This is without doubt the highest quality brass and percussion youth ensemble New Zealand has seen for some time.”

Following on from rave reviews at the 2009 International Youth Musicale in Japan the band will perform a wide range of entertainment including works by Stravinsky and Shostakovich, Trigger Happy by Gareth Farr and Pastorale by Ken Young, well known jazz standards and a vocal tribute to Elvis Presley.

This year’s guest artist is well known British euphonium exponent Davey Boyes.
