Undergrowth 2010: 1

19 February 2010 9:00 PM

This original collaboration by artist-storyteller Kristin Herman and musician-composer Peter Willis retells the story of Hansel and Gretel for adults. Spoken word, movement, found object art and music (piano, song, sound objects) are melded to create a hypnotic, dream-like rite of passage.

The performance is in four  ‘movements’, based on the four elements:
Movement 1 – Earth – casting out
Movement 2 – Air – getting lost
Movement 3 – Fire – the destroyer and initiation
Movement 4 – Water – the return

Undergrowth, originally produced in Auckland in late 2009, is presented in Wellington as part of the New Zealand Fringe 2010.
