Concert 4: Dialogue between Chinese and Pacific Music4 November 2009 12:00 AM |
This concert is being given as part of a four day conference in Beijing exploring Maori and Pacific Island music and practice in a multi-cultural and Pacific/Asian context. The performance will include new works and collaborations and involve Chinese students from the Conservatory.
While the content is subject to change, the scheduled programme includes:
Li Hui: Spring Narrative
Nebojsa Jovan Zivkovic: Trio Per UNOI
Wu Zongxian: Dui Dui with His Coins
Zong Yaoguang: Percussion Sextet
Li Ying: Cascading (silk and bamboo ensemble and percussion instrumetns)
Christopher Blake: Sounds – an evocation of Tahuahua (wind quintet)
Philip Brownlee: He Rimu Pae Noa (flute, violin and cello)
Gillian Whitehead: Hineteiwaiwa (voice, taonga puoro and chamber ensemble)
