- Southern Stars Concert
- 21 March 2009 8:00 PM
The Southern Sinfonia, conducted by Marc Taddei, presents a programme celebrating the life, times and works of artist Frances Hodgkins. This concert, part of the Dunedin Heritage Festival 2009, includes the world premiere of a new work by Dunedin composer Anthony Ritchie (Mozart Fellow 1988-89).
The concert also includes a dramatic presentation by Rima Te Wiata of Frances Hodgkins life, with a script penned by Catherine Chidgey (Robert Burns Fellow 2005-2006). The first half features Deborah Wai Kapohe and the City of Dunedin Choir performing arias and choruses from New Zealand, England and France, countries where Frances Hodgkins lived and worked. This includes an extract from Anthony Ritchie’s From the Southern Marches.
