The Tasmanian Symphony orchestra have hosted NZ composer Kenneth Young in the 2008 Trans-Tasman Composer Exchange and this evening will premiere his Lux Aeterna, a work which is a direct result of the project.

Following this piece, the TSO, conducted by Nicholas Milton, will present the elemental pleasures of Stravinsky’s luscious Firebird and the astonishing colours of Sibelius’ inspired Violin Concerto (Antje Weithaas, violin).

Composer and lecturer Maria Grenfell will host a free pre-concert talk at 7pm.
