The Auckland Chamber Orchestra, conducted special guest conductor James Gardner, performs works by seven of this country’s new generation of composers.

They may be young but these composers have already won numerous awards and scholarships between them including a SOUNZ Contemporary Award, a Lilburn Prize, two ACL Young Composers Prizes, two Todd-NZSO Young Composer prizes, two Edwin Carr Scholarships and an APRA Professional Development Award!

Included in the lineup will be a new work by composer Claire Scholes. She says of her work…. “The Auckland Chamber Orchestra has pronounced Schubert Finished!  Death hath quashed the wild rose of life, and even Gretchen at her spinning wheel cannot postpone fate. The ACO wishes to advise that cash donations will be accepted in lieu of condolences.”

This is a concert full of diversity, challenge and excitement (and 100% New Zealand music making and playing)!
