Stephen De Pledge Tour

4 September 2009
3 October 2009

Pianist Stephen De Pledge embarks on a Chamber Music New Zealand tour of four main centres and an Associate Societies tour of seven centres. He brings a wonderfully diverse programme with him:
Beethoven: Sonata in C minor Opus 13 ‘Pathétique’
Debussy: Images Book 1 – Reflets dans L’eau, Hommage à Rameau, Mouvement
Billy Mayerl: Shallow Waters, Railroad Rhythm
   Brahms: Two Rhapsodies Opus 79
   Prokofiev: Sonata No 7

and three works by New Zealand composers:
   John Psathas: Sleeper
Ross Harris: A landscape with too few lovers
   Jenny McLeod: Landscape Prelude

These latter three works are from the set of twelve Landscape Preludes that Stephen commissioned from twelve New Zealand composers and premiered at the 2008 NZ International Arts Festival. Videos of this performance are available on YouTube and all but two of the works are available through SOUNZ. For more information about the Landscape Preludes project, click here .
