Shifting City Sound Plains 3

Workshop

With support from the "2008 SOUNZ Community Commission":http://sounz.org.nz/news_articles/show/124?category=archived sound artist Sam Hamilton leads two separate hour-long strategically mapped and guided listening walks through central Auckland's acoustic environment and most exceptional public sonic experiences (comfortable shoes recommended!)

The Shifting City Sound Plains collective is a field recording project focused on exploring, recording, transforming and engaging with the physical and metaphysical acoustic architecture and ephemeral sonic ecology of Auckland city. The project was created to bring together a collection of sound artists, musicians, artists and sound recordists, established and emerging, to work collectively.

After a week spent making field recordings of the urban sonic surroundings, the participating artists will come together to reorganise, improvise and manipulate the recordings into a 30-minute surround sound Musique Concrete sound performance at 8pm this same evening at the Cross St. Studios.

The walks are at 12 noon and 10pm (after the concert which starts at 8pm.)
