Bourges International Electroacoustic Music FestivalAwarded: 1976 |
Award Information
One of the most prestigious showcases of electroacoustic music in the world, the Bourges International Electroacoustic Music Festival is hosted by the Institut International de Musique Electroacoustique de Bourges, France.
Composers submit works which are assessed by an international jury. Prizes are awarded in three sections.
The first is for emerging composers with the objective of contributing to the young laureates’ training, travelling in the musical environment and confrontation/discovery of new techniques and aesthetics in different cultural environments and under new horizons.
The second section for composers over 26 years aims to support the creation of new works, promote composers and sonic artists, to celebrate their works and develop their careers.
The third section, for composers with at least 25 years experience promotes established artists and the diffusion of works that might become milestones in the history of electroacoustic music development.
New Zealand composers have attracted notable successes at this competition over the last 35 years.
