Tall Poppies Records was established in 1991 with the aim of promoting Australian musicians and composers. It is the only Australian label that promotes Australian chamber music performance, and that gathers composers’ works from a variety of performers for a series of over 40 CDs showcasing the best Australian composers. Whilst promoting Australian chamber music Tall Poppies also releases Australian performances of classical music from all ages, jazz, improvisation and world music. Tall Poppies includes music and performances of New Zealanders wherever appropriate. Tall Poppies has won many awards and the recordings are distributed throughout the world and on the internet (www.tallpoppies.net). It has received generous government funding and regular private patronage.
