Wellington Most Famous Orchestra

Established: 2009

Profile

The Wellington Most Famous Orchestra of Miraculous Delights has been meeting weekly since April 2009 at the Frederick Street Sound and Light Exploration Society in Wellington. The initial membership is 15 people, and it specialises in ensemble improvising and generating musical scores from unusual sources. This unique group has been created to provide an opportunity for musicians of different instruments and levels of ability, readers and non-readers to explore the possibilites of large ensemble improvisation.

It’s aim is to provide an opportunity to practise and improve improvising skills individually and collectively; to work towards musical performances; and to provide a vehicle for composers to write and workshop their pieces.
