Tecwyn Evans, born in Auckland and educated at the University of Otago and Kansas University (USA) is one of the most successful New Zealand conductors. After making his UK operatic debut at Glyndebourne in 2000 conducting performances of La Boheme, Tecwyn has worked at Opera North, Opera National de Paris, New Zealand Opera, and regularly with the BBC Philharmonic, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philhamonia, the Orchestra of Opera North, Opera Theatre Company Ireland, and Southern Sinfonia. In 2009 he made his debut with the New
Zealand Symphony Orchestra.

Tecwyn has appeared twice at the BBC Proms concerts at the Royal Albert Hall with the BBC Philharmonic, made his German operatic debut at Opera Kōln in 2008, and has just been appointed Erste Kapellmeister und stellvertretender Chefdirigent at Grazer Oper in Austria.

Tecwyn has conducted numerous performances of New Zealand music, including the world premieres of Gareth Farr’s Ex Statis with the Auckland Philharmonia in 2008 and Anthony Ritchie’s French Overture with the NZSO in February 2009.
