- Campbell Ross
- Born: 1979
“Third place went to Campbell Ross for his Two Dances – Rumba and Tango. Both were well-written, attractive pieces whose accessibility somewhat belied their sophistication.” Lindis Taylor, November 17, 2011.
Campbell began learning the classical guitar in 1993 and in 1997 gave his first public recital. He has studied under both Matthew Marshall (BMus) and Julian Byzantine (MMus).
In 2011 Campbell was a short-listed finalist in the (APRA) Professional Development Awards for young composers. In the same year he was also a finalist in the New Zealand Classical Guitar Composition Competition. The ‘Tango’ and ‘Rumba’ were premiered in Wellington (NZ) by Matthew Marshall as part of the Massey University Creative Arts Festival.Source: Campbell Ross, June 2012
