Biography

Born in Glouscester, U.K., Keith Statham studied Music at school and Cambridge University, and worked in the recording industry for Decca and Phillips before becoming General Manager of the Northern Sinfonia Orchestra from 1966-74. He has also spent five years as freelance composer/arranger before becoming Director of the Hong Kong Arts Festival from 1980 – 1987.

In 1987 Keith established a Promotions/Corporate Communications Company which became the largest independent company of its kind in Hong Kong. The company was bought out in 2000 when he and his family took up residency in New Zealand, and he started to compose again, something he hadn’t done for 20 years.

The music for small ensembles, available through SOUNZ, is the result of the last decade of composition.

Keith Statham died in May 2012, in Auckland.
