Biography
Alexandra Hay is a Wellington-based composer, sonic artist and teacher. She graduated with a first-class Honours degree from the New Zealand School of Music in 2007 and studied musicology at the Freie Universität in Berlin under a DAAD scholarship. Her work has been performed by ensembles gateseven (NZ), 175 East (NZ), Duo Stump-Linshalm (Austria), Chronology Arts, and The Song Company (Australia); and in festivals Asia Pacific 2007 and Nuovi Spazi Musicali (Italy) 2008. Alexandra was the recipient of the 2008 NZSO Todd Corporation Young Composer Award, and in 2009 her clarinet duo “part/s” was published by Victoria University’s Waiteata Music Press. Alexandra’s music featured in the 2010 ISCM World New Music Days, and she will shortly commence doctoral studies at Stanford University.
