Profile

The Composers Association of New Zealand Inc. (CANZ) is the association for amateur and professional composers in New Zealand. CANZ fosters the professional interests of its composer members. The association presents two awards annually: the KBB Citation for Services to New Zealand music, sponsored by KBB Music (Auckland), which recognises an individual or organisation’s outstanding contribution and commitment to New Zealand composition; and the CANZ Trust Fund Award which is awarded to a composer in honour of their compositional potential and achievements. It also contributes occasionally towards special projects, and provides opportunities for young and emerging composers each year through the Nelson Composers Workshop.
