NZSO-SOUNZ-RNZC Recordings
The NZSO-SOUNZ-RNZC Recordings is a collaboration between the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the Centre for New Zealand Music (SOUNZ) and Radio New Zealand Concert, which aims to increase opportunities for the performance, recording, broadcast and promotion of orchestral music by New Zealand composers. The project will deliver up to 80 minutes of new New Zealand orchestral recordings annually. Following the recording sessions, the works will be available to hear as full-length streaming audio on SOUNZ’s Media On Demand platform, and on Radio New Zealand Concert's website.
The procedure is as follows:
SOUNZ publicises a Call for Submissions and convenes a selection panel. From the submitted scores, the panel selects up to 80 minutes of works to be performed by the NZSO and recorded by Radio New Zealand Concert during the following year. SOUNZ acknowledges the generous support of Radio New Zealand Concert and the NZSO for this project.
The next Recording session has been scheduled for 7 and 8 September 2011.
A Call for Scores for the 2012 NZSO-SOUNZ-RNZC Recordings is now open - Please click here to find more details and to access the entry form. Please note that there is ONLY one Call for Scores for both 2012 sessions.
